Brief Bio:- Whiskey & Speed Official

Whiskey & Speed are known for their extremely energetic live shows and intense, no holds barred sound - a band you need to experience before you die! They are a pillar in the Brisbane alternative music scene and are hungry to take Queensland, Australia and the world!

The utterly insane, genre bending band that is Whiskey & Speed was spawned in Brisbane, Australia by school friends Dayne (vocals) and Ben (guitar) who starting jamming in 2008. Come 2011, they were joined by Mick (drums) and Loki (bass), and the solid line-up was formed. Since then, they’ve been rockin’ and shockin’ crowds with their twisted Motörhead meets Melvins sound and punk rock attitude.

After establishing a strong local presence through regular shows (and a healthy dose of controversy), 2013 marked their first international support, opening for legendary SoCal punks Guttermouth on their Australian farewell tour. 2014 is already proving to be a huge year for Whiskey & Speed with the recording and release (on May 24th) of their debut album “The New Dumb Idea”, as well as being chosen to support international acts the Adolescents (USA) in Brisbane and Rehab for Quitters (Canada) in Ipswich.

Whiskey & Speed embrace the rock n’ roll grew up with and embody its spirit, waging war on the clean-cut “rock stars” of today. They survive off their wild and entertaining shows, and live for the stage.

"I hadn’t seen an audience at a local gig scream for an encore before, but Whiskey and Speed were happy to oblige, ending the set strong, fast and wonderfully loud. Some of the punks were, quite literally, on their knees bowing, happy to be showered in Dayne’s spat out beer, and one woman even went up and asked for autographs. Bravo boys, you were truely outstanding." - Brisbane SOS, regarding Punkfest (April 2013)

"THEY...ARE...INSAAAAAAANE!!! They have a colossal and darkly twisted energy that is infectious, but really draws out an amazing vibe from everyone.

The boys certainly have a reputation for their onstage antics. And from what I have heard, seen and read I get the feeling they kept it a little more low-key (sorry mate, unintended pun) than usual for the all ages occasion. They jump on each other, spray their drinks over everyone, kick, punch and hit each other with their instruments, crash tackle anyone that's near, they climb on everything in the room, walk away during songs and the set ends with the whole band in a sweaty pile on the floor. But oddly enough, these boys are so talented, that their set is astoundingly tight and their grungey rock groove really gets the crowd on their feet and gets everyone really loose. What Whiskey & Speed have is more than just a show. I would go as far as to say it is something you must experience before you die. There really isn't more I can say about it to do them justice other than go and see them live." - Rikochetz Events regarding performance at Halloweenfest 2011

"The most violent and destructive band to come to Ipswich" - The Coronation Hotel, 2011

"They're dirty, loud and o so loveable. Whiskey and Speed is a mish mash of covers and originals. Its all sludge, stoner, grunge, punk rock, and its all good baby." - Tom Fiend, 2010
