Brief Bio:- Ransom Price
Unable Records has set April 7, 2015 as the release date for My Kidnap Money, the new full-length album from New Jersey-based punk band Ransom Price. The 10-song album will be offered in both CD and digital formats, and will be marketed worldwide by Unable Records. Pre-sales of the CD have already begun through Unable Records, and an deluxe version of the album, complete with an 8 page iTunes booklet and “instant gratification” track, will be available for pre-sale through iTunes beginning March 7.
Ransom Price, which hails from the Philadelphia suburbs of southern New Jersey, was founded in December 2012 by Mike Ransom, formerly a member of ‘90s punk band Point Blank, and by former Endless Sacrifice drummer Chris Mazure. Ransom's song writing draws heavy stylistic influence from bands like Screeching Weasel, The Queers, Green Day, The Bouncing Souls, Mr. T Experience, and other similar acts. Ransom Price plays catchy and melodic punk rock that is simple, without pretense, and effective.
My Kidnap Money confronts poignant issues such as depression, stress, marriage, and the passing of friends. "This is a very personal and, at times, very difficult record for me," says Ransom, the song writer of the band and its guitar player and vocalist. "I felt hostage to some really negative feelings for a really long time, and I think this album really captures that. Writing it was a definite catharsis for me; and the album is named for the price I paid, and the price those around me paid, before my eventual escape from those feelings."
Prior to My Kidnap Money, Ransom Price released two successful singles; one in January 2013 (“West from El Paso”) and one in July 2014 (“Drink”). The former was the cornerstone of a benefit project that raised more than a thousand dollars for the Lung Cancer Foundation of America. Both singles, as well as the new album, were recorded at 0x1 Sound Studio by award-winning engineer/producer Jason Ruch. In addition to preparing for the release of My Kidnap Money, Ransom Price is also in pre-production on two separate music videos, both scheduled to be released later this spring. With all that has been happening recently for the band, it appears that the “ransom price” has been paid, and the band is on its way to breaking out.
